Connecting Conscious Citizens for Sustainable Development
India faces growing environmental challenges—ranging from pollution and water scarcity to climate change—that directly affect public health and community well-being. While government initiatives such as the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), Swachh Bharat Mission, and Jal Shakti Abhiyan are addressing these concerns, there remains a critical need for grassroots engagement, awareness, and behaviour change. Aligning with India’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and community-led actions can play a transformative role in building sustainable and resilient environments.
Objective
Promote Environmental Awareness:
To educate and counsel communities on environmental sustainability, health, and responsible practices that support long-term ecological balance.
Support Green Initiatives:
To implement projects on renewable energy (especially solar), water conservation, waste management, and tree plantation in key locations, including government academic institutions and healthcare centres.
A Sustainable Step Towards Water Security Project
Project Jaldhara, an initiative by BlueKare Foundation supported by EXICOM Tele-Systems Ltd. under its CSR program, is a community-centric rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge project implemented in Village Dharampur, Sector 108, Gurgaon.
The project, benefitting over 2400 individuals, was conceived in response conceived in response to pressing issue of seasonal waterlogging and ensuring availability of groundwater for future generations. Designed as a holistic and replicable solution, Jaldhara integrates a scientifically engineered recharge structure comprising a desilting chamber, a multi-layered filtration system, and a borewell for direct aquifer recharge. The system uses natural materials like sand, gravel, and stone, requiring no electricity and minimal maintenance.
Beyond construction, the project placed strong emphasis on community involvement, from planning to execution. Local residents supported the work on the ground, attended awareness sessions, and took ownership of the structure's upkeep.
Project Jaldhara reflects a powerful collaboration between civil society, corporate responsibility, and community spirit—creating not just infrastructure, but a movement toward sustainable water management.
