Promoting Healthy Living
Objective
To improve health outcomes and environmental awareness among school children, teachers, parents, and vulnerable community members—including those with physical, mental, or social disadvantages—by:
An initiative on spearing Environment Health Awareness Educating for a Cleaner, Healthier Future In collaboration with UshaKiran
Launched on 15th March 2024, Project Ujwal Gram is a collaborative initiative by BlueKare Foundation and UshaKiran, designed to create health-conscious, environmentally aware communities—starting with children.
At the heart of this initiative lies the belief that environmental responsibility is directly linked to public health. Clean surroundings, safe water, and proper waste disposal are essential to preventing illness, particularly in underserved areas.
In many underprivileged communities, children and families face frequent health challenges due to poor sanitation, contaminated water, and lack of hygiene awareness. Project Ujwal Gram addresses these issues at their root by educating children on how environmental habits impact their health, and empowering them to bring change within their homes.
Core Education Topics include:
Clean Water – Preventing waterborne diseases
Waste Management – Reducing risk of infections and mosquito-borne illnesses
Personal Hygiene – Promoting handwashing, cleanliness, and disease prevention
Sustainable Living – Building long-term health through greener choices
To strengthen this message, BlueKare Foundation donated a 55-inch television set to UshaKiran — enabling the use of audio-visual content to teach children about health and environment in an engaging and lasting way.
UshaKiran has gone beyond classrooms. Through their fieldwork, they have reached out to the families of the children, spreading health and hygiene awareness in the wider community. This approach creates a ripple effect — empowering over 700 people with better practices in just the first phase.
